Lights on for Virginians without power early Friday morning


UPDATE 10:40 a.m.

The lights are back on in both localities.


ROANOKE, Va (WSET)-- AEP is reporting that thousands of people are without power right now in the City of Roanoke.

At 4:55 a.m. on Friday, 3,121 customers were affected.

As of 6:01 a.m., that number dropped dramatically, leaving 1,866 people in the dark.

According to the AEP outage map, that outage cause is listed as "unknown, non-weather."

The estimated restoration time is 7:30 a.m.

In Lynchburg, 180 people were without power as of 7:18 a.m. AEP listed the cause of that outage as a "tree out of row."
