6 to 12 inch snow totals expected for our area in early December

    Sunday morning forecast (WSET)

NOTICE: This article is about a snow storm that happened at the beginning of December 2018.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- A snow storm is headed our way this weekend for December 10, 2018.

The worst of the weather is expected Sunday, so you should get your travelling done Saturday.

When it comes to snow totals, there will be a sharp cut off between north and south. This means one location could get heavy snow, while 30 minutes north, could see no precipitation.

The precipitation won't vary much from east to west. The precipitation 30 miles west of you will be about the same as 30 miles east of you.

The precipitation will change gradually from snow to a mix, and in the east it will become rain as temperatures won't be as cold.

The mountains will get buried in snow, with totals expected to go past 12 inches.

It is too early to get exact snow totals for the ABC 13 viewing area, but 6" to 12" for most is our first snowfall forecast.

Stick with ABC 13 for the latest forecast on this storm.
