Between Dominion Energy and the Craig-Botetourt Rural Electric Cooperative, more than 3,000 customers were out of power early Thursday morning.

The outages have also affected three schools in the area, forcing Buchanan Elementary, Eagle Rock Elementary, and James River High School to all stay closed for the day.

As of 11:30 a.m., out of the 2,358 customers tracked from Dominion Energy by PowerOutage.us in Botetourt County, 2,007 remain without power.
