1 person killed, multiple injured in Campbell County crash
CAMPBELL Co., Va. (WSET) -- Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal car crash in Campbell County.
Police say the crash happened at around 3:10 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Route 501 and Route 680.
Police say a 1987 Dodge Dakota was driving east on Route 680 when it ran a stop sign.
The Dodge pulled into the path of a 1993 Ford F-150 pickup truck driving south on Route 501.
The Ford couldn't avoid the Dodge in enough time, and hit the side of it.
Police say the driver and two passengers in the Dodge weren't wearing their seat belts, and were ejected from the car.
One of the passengers, 37-year-old Tonya L. Wood of Lynchburg died at the scene.
The 43-year-old male driver of the Dodge is currently being treated at UVA Hospital for life-threatening injuries.
The other passenger, a 40-year-old man of Campbell County sustained serious injuries and is being treated at Lynchburg General Hospital.
The 65-year-old male of driver of the Ford is currently being treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries at LGH.
He wasn't wearing a seat belt.
Police say the crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
