LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Some local restaurants are thinking outside just the menu to keep the doors open.

Some local restaurants like Benny Scarpetta's are offering more than just food. Customers can order a pizza plus a side of toilet paper.

Benny Scarpetta's is limited to just take out and delivery like most restaurants in the country.

It's forcing employees to get creative to help keep the doors open.

"Toilet paper is a dollar but if you order a pizza you get a free roll of toilet paper with it. So you can order like 10 pizzas and get 10 rolls of toilet paper if you want," said owner Jacob Walters.

Toilet paper, gloves, and paper towels are just a few of the items on the pizza joint's menu now.

"It is kind of keeping us open as business and helping out the community as well," said Walters.

Sean Bailey owns Crisp salad and juice bar and he said they're also adapting to the new normal.

"We are just doing our best and trying to be there for the community," said Bailey.

Along with pick up and delivery, Crisp employees are creating what they call survival kits.

"I always used to joke around with my family that if there was an apocalypse that we would be ok because we carry so many supplies at Crisp and so now that the apocalypse is here," said Bailey.

The survival kit includes a roll of toilet paper, fresh produce, two cups of brown rice, oats, gloves, a cookie and two bottles of spring water.

"So we are offering this essential package to basically anyone that wants it delivered contactless so that I can also make enough money to pay my employees," said Bailey.
