RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) — Virginia lawmakers say they are ready to work with Republican Gov.-elect Glenn Youngkin.
With lawmakers back in Richmond for the General Assembly session, both sides of the aisle say Saturday's inauguration is one full of hope.
Both Republicans and Democrats said they're hopeful Glenn Youngkin will be able to bring both sides together.

Republican State Senator Steve Newman said Youngkin has a plan once he's sworn in.
"You know today there is a lot of hope and optimism that better times are on the way. I think we have a Governor-elect who is going to come in and do something about some of our school problems, introduce our freedoms, and be more protective of law enforcement. And I think that gives us a lot of hope," Newman said.
Democratic State Senator Creigh Deeds said he's also willing to work with Republicans to address these issues, but said this kind of policy-making will be new for Youngkin.
"The governor coming in is new to government. He seems like a reasonable person. I have met him and I think he is a nice guy. I'm hopeful we can find common ground, so we'll see," Deeds said.

The GOP is trying to roll back many laws regarding guns, abortion and voter requirements.
Republican Winsome Sears is set to be sworn in as Lt. Governor on Saturday as well. Once that happens, she will serve as a tie-breaking vote in the State Senate.
