UPDATE: Driver Killed in Three Car Crash on Route 29, Identified

UPDATE: 10:00 p.m.

Madison Heights, VA - State Police have now identified the driver killed in a three car crash in Madison Heights Thursday afternoon.

70-year-old Anne Davis, of Lynchburg, was taken to Lynchburg General where she later died.

Police say 59-year-old Michael Elder was driving south on Route 29 about 2.5 miles away from Dillard Road when he slowed to make a left turn into the parking lot of a business.

As he made the turn, police say he hit Davis' car on the driver's side.

The impact of the crash then pushed Davis into 40-year-old Carlton Anderson, Jr. who was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Elder was not hurt and charged with failing to yield the right of way.

UPDATE: 6:45 p.m.

Madison Heights, VA - Amherst County Public Safety Director Gary Roakes says one person was killed in an accident on 29 on Thursday.

Another person was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

State police say the crash happened around 1:20 near 84 Lumber.

State police are investigating the cause.

Madison Heights, VA - An accident on 29 Business in Madison Heights has shut down both northbound lanes, near 84 Lumber.According to Amherst County Public Safety Director Gary Roakes, two people were transported to the hospital, both in critical condition.Right now there is no word on the cause of the crash.
