Students & Teachers Meet for Diversity Dialogue Day in Lynchburg

Lynchburg, VA - Area high school students and educators come together to talk about diversity Wednesday.

They met on the Lynchburg College campus for Diversity Dialogue Day. More than 75 people learned ways to recognize intolerance.

This year's theme was "Safety in Schools", which participants say goes beyond preventing violence.

"We want to be accepted. That's a part of being safe, right? We want to be able to feel comfortable to express our ideas and be ourselves. So, that's part of being in a safe environment."

The event is sponsored by the Virginia Center of Inclusive Communities.

It's a Richmond based organization that works to fight prejudice across the Commonwealth.
