State Supreme Court to Hear Appeal in Virginia Tech Lawsuit
Blacksburg, VA - A panel of three justices has ruled Virginia's Supreme Court will hear the state's appeal of a jury's ruling over the Virginia Tech wrongful death lawsuit.
Last March, a jury ruled that the university was negligent in its response to the 2007 shootings on campus and awarded damages to the families of two victims.
The state and the parents who filed suit both appealed to a three-judge panel earlier this month.
While the panel said the Supreme Court will hear the state's appeal, it rejected a bid by the parent's attorney's to sue Tech's President Charles Steger.
