Man Who Died in South Boston Police Custody Identified

South Boston, VA - State Police have identified the man who died after being arrested in South Boston over the weekend.

Officials say Linwood Lambert, Jr., 46, of Richmond died Saturday.

South Boston Police took Lambert into custody after getting a call from the Super 8 Motel about a disorderly person.

Police took Lambert to the hospital for evaluation, and they say he became combative with the officers.

Lambert was taken to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where officers noticed he was having a medical emergency.

When Lambert was taken back to the hospital, he passed away.

State Police are still waiting on autopsy results.
