Lynchburg Inmates Receive a Special Delivery

Lynchburg, VA - Domino's Pizza made a special delivery Thursday night. They dropped of six pies to the Blue Ridge Regional Adult Detention Center in Lynchburg.

It was a special occasion, the graduation of women in a female inmate program, called Progressive Release. It's offered through Interfaith Outreach.

Ten women participated in the eight week course that teaches them life improvement skills; everything from time and money management, to emotional and spiritual healing.

"They have hope now in their lives and they are celebrating their accomplishments some of them have received their GEDs and we're just excited to be with them tonight" said Cheryl Smith, an Interfaith Outreach employee.

This is the first time in the program's history that the women have received pizza and soda as their graduation gift due to security concerns. For some, it's been years since they've tasted a pizza.

Interfaith Outreach relies heavily on volunteers to make their programs a success. If you'd like information on how to help, visit their website.
