Lynchburg Fire's Pushes Into Weekend To Raise $35K To Fill The Boot

Lynchburg, VA - While driving around Lynchburg this weekend, you might run into a firefighter or twenty with a rubber boot in hand.

It's the final push to Fill the Boot. Lynchburg firefighters will be out all weekend at shopping centers and their fire stations to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The department is hoping to raise at least $35,000.

"We're going to have a big push through the weekend to try to reach that and hopefully we'll come up above our goal," said Todd Davis of the Lynchburg Fire Department. "Every year we strive to do a little bit better and I think, hopefully we're on track to meet that."

On Sunday, MDA will host its annual Show Of Strength Telethon, the organization's televised push to raise awareness for those affected by muscle diseases. You can watch that right here on ABC 13 News at 9PM.
