Lynchburg, VA - Author and gay activist Mel White is leaving Lynchburg. He and partner Gary Nixon are moving back to California.

They hosted a good-bye party at their home near Boonsboro Sunday.

You'll remember, White was Jerry Falwell's ghostwriter for his autobiography.

He's also appeared on "The Amazing Race" and he's produced his own documentaries.

White has lived in the Hill City for the past 10 years. He says he's moving back to California now to live closer to family.

"We're starting a new chapter of our lives, we don't know what's gonna happen next, but we're gonna be close to the family, we're gonna be in our favorite church, All Saint's Episcopal, we're gonna be by my favorite beach, so we're gonna let God do the rest," White said.
