Danville Area Crop Hunger Walk To Raise Money And Awareness For Those Fighting Hunger

Danville, VA-- In the past seven years Danville has raised a total of $76,000 to help fight hunger overseas and in Danville, and on October 5 they'll be raising money again.

It's all part of the Danville Area Crop Walk. Last year more than 350 people turned out. The mile-long walk starts and ends at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church on West Main Street. 25 percent of the money will go to God's Storehouse. The rest will go to Church World Service, non-profit organization that feeds people in 50 countries.

"The focus on the part going around the world is on helping people get out of poverty. It gives them tools and training in agriculture and education. It combats malnutrition, it helps refugees, it helps people in medical crisis," said Beth Bauman, Chair of Danville Area Crop Hunger Walk.

If you'd like to take part you can turn up at the church at 2:30 p.m. on October 5, or register online click here.
