Danville Angel Tree Program Helps Local Teachers

Danville, VA - Advanced Learning and Research is hosting its eighth annual teacher angel tree program. About 100 teachers have requested class supplies.

Wish lists contain anything from glue and crayons to paper and pencils. Educators come up with a wish list totaling up to $15.

So far, the community has donated about $400 worth of supplies, but that's still $600 away from the goal.

"I think around the holidays, the community's always looking for ways to give back and everybody knows that teachers spend a lot of their own money on school supplies for their classrooms, and this is a way that they can help," said Dana Silicki, Institute K-5 program coordinator.

The program runs through December 21. If you're interested in donating, you can either leave supplies under the tree or pick up a wish list from one of the branches in the atrium.
