Officials announced Saturday morning that the body of a missing Virginia woman has been found and a suspect is now in custody.

During a press conference at 9:30 a.m., Fairfax County Police Department's (FCPD) Major Ed O’Carroll and Chief Kevin Davis said one of Lu's former tenants called them Friday night with information about her disappearance.

Brian George Sayrs Jr. met with detectives shortly after and led them tothe remote area of Dudley Drive and Laurel Crest Drive in Lorton. Detectives located her body and placedSayrs Jr. under arrest.

The 25-year-old is being charged withsecond-degree murder and felony concealment of a body.

Officials described Lu's death as a "brutal, vicious murder." This case is being investigated as the13th homicide in Fairfax County in 2021.

Sayrs Jr. was a tenant at Lu’s home at the time of her disappearance. Officials say they have strong reasonable evidence to believe Lu's murder happened at her residence. She was last seen on June 3 at the Aldi in Woodbridge.

An autopsy of Lu's body was underway Saturday morning.

"Justice has prevailed," FCPD's Maj. O’Carroll said."We were determined to find Emily."

On July 15, O'Carroll cited "a tremendous amount of digital evidence," that helped police identify a person of interest. On Saturday, he credited not only the "thousands of hours" of investigative work but also the community and media's help in spreading the word about Lu's disappearance.

Sayrs Jr.is being held at the Adult Detention Center without bond.
