Wilmington hits three homers in 6-2 win over Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Wilmington blasted three homers off Lynchburg pitching en route to a 6-2 win over the Hillcats Wednesday night at Calvin Falwell Field in Lynchburg.

The Blue Rocks broke a 1-all tie with three runs in the third to grab a 4-1 lead. Chase Vallot's solo homer in the seventh ran the margin to 5-1.

The Hillcats tried to rally in the 8th, Martin Cervenka led off with a triple and later scored on a throwing error to make it a 5-2 game.

But Wilmington added another run in the ninth and got out a small jam in the bottom of the ninth to seal the victory.

Wilmington and Lynchburg play the rubber match of the series Thursday night, first pitch at 6:30 at Lynchburg City Stadium.
