Wilmington beats Hillcats 6-2, takes rubber game of the series
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Sicnarf Loopstok and Connor Marabell homered, but those were the only runs for Lynchburg on the night as the Hillcats fell to Wilmington 6-2 Thursday night at Calvin Falwell Field.
Wilmington scored three runs in the top of the first to grab a quick lead and Lynchburg played catch-up the entire night.
Loopstok homered in the first, Marabell in the ninth for the Hillcats. But Lynchburg was never able to get any closer than the 3-1 deficit after the first inning.
The loss drops Lynchburg to 10-and-5 in the second half and into a first-place tie with Salem, who won at Carolina 8-3.
The Blue Rocks improve to 6-and-9 in the second half and within four games of first place.
