Pitching powers Hillcats to second-straight win over Down East

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - For a second-straight night, Lynchburg got great pitching from its starter and beat Down East 5-2.

Friday night, Dominic DeMasi threw a career-high seven innings, allowing just one run and four hits while striking out a career-best eight batters.

The Hillcats struck for four runs in the third inning and would never trail.

Down East got on the board for the first time in the fifth on Chuck Moorman's shot up the middle that drove in Josh Morgan, the Wood Ducks cut it to 4-1.

But Lynchburg answered in the bottom of the frame. Willi Castro singled, stole second and later scored when Sicnarf Loopstok reached on an error.

Later, Castro doing the job in the field, charging the slow chopper at third and firing to first for the out.

Lynchburg beats Down East for the second-straight game, the Hillcats try and make it three in a row Saturday night. First pitch is 6 o'clock at Calvin Falwell Field.
