McKenzie strikes out 14 in Hillcats' 4-1 win over Carolina
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Triston McKenzie struck out 14 in six innings, allowing just one hit to lead the Hillcats over Carolina 4-1.
The Hillcats scored two in the first, then one in the fifth and sixth to give McKenzie a 4-0 lead.
Later, how about this play at shortstop by Willi Castro to get the Hillcats out of the seventh inning, that's a big time play by Castro.
Carolina had scored one earlier in the inning, but that's all they got.
Martin Cervenka and Ka'ai Tom homered for Lynchburg.
Hillcats win 4-1, they'll play game two of the series Wednesday night at Lynchburg City Stadium.
Also, Salem won on the road at Buies Creek 6-1. Travis Lakins pitched 6 and two-thirds innings for the Red Sox, allowing just one run, two hits and striking out 8.
