Hillcats win, Salem Red Sox lose in Carolina League action Tuesday
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WSET) - Lynchburg scored five runs in the ninth inning to tie, then added two more in the 10th to win at Winston-Salem 8-6 Tuesday night in Carolina League Baseball.
The Hillcats trailed 6-1 heading to the ninth but scored five times, including a 3-run homer by Willi Castro, to tie the game at 6.
Lynchburg then scored two more in the 10th on a wild pitch and RBI single from Yonathan Mendoza to win the game and even its record at 18-18 on the season.
The Dash fall to 13-26 overall.
Salem, meantime, lost at home to Frederick 9-4. It was the Red Sox' second-straight loss to the Keys.
Frederick scored six runs in the first and never trailed.
Salem scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to make the final score look a lot more respectable.
The Red Sox drop to 24-and-14 overall but still lead the Northern Division by four games over Frederick, Lynchburg and Potomac are tied for third, five games back.
