Hillcats return home after 5-1 road swing

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The Lynchburg Hillcats are back home for their next four games, starting Thursday night against the Potomac Nationals.

After struggling to a 2-and-5 start in the opening week of the season at home, the Hillcats went on the road and proceeded to win five of six games, including the last five. They bring that five-game winning streak into the series opener with Potomac.

So what's behind the late surge for the 'Cats?

Tony Mansolino, LYNCHBURG HILLCATS MANAGER, said "During our bad stretch, we still had guys on base, we just weren't getting the big hit, the timely hit, the 2-out RBI. In the last week, we've gotten more of those and our pitching has continued to be really good, our bullpen's hung in there and we've won a few games."

Jodd Carter, HILLCATS OUTFIELDER, said "We don't really worry about streaks. We just want to go out there every day, focus on what today is in front of us, and just win each game one-by-one."
