Hillcats blank Frederick 5-0, Salem falls to Potomac 9-4

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Lynchburg starter Jake Paulson and reliever Micah Miniard combined on a four-hit shutout Monday night as the Hillcats blanked Frederick 5-0 to take the opener of the three-game series in Lynchburg.

Paulson pitched six shutout innings, yielding just four hits. Miniard tossed the final three innings of no-hit baseball.

Lynchburg scored single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings, then tacked on two more in the seventh for the 5-0 final.

Trenton Brooks and Logan Ice led the Hillcats with two hits apiece, Ice drove in two runs.

With the win, Lynchburg improves to 5-and-6 on the season. The Hillcats and Keys play game two of the series Tuesday night, first pitch at 6:30.


Salem fell to Potomac 9-4, the Nationals scored seven runs in the fourth inning to take command.

The Red Sox drop to 7-and-5 overall. Game two of the series is Tuesday night, first pitch at 7:05 at Haley Toyota Field in Salem.
