Hillcats blank Down East 1-0 in series opener

LYNCHBURG, Va. (ESPN) - Two players activated from the disabled list Thursday, Brock Hartson and Claudio Bautista, made major contributions in Lynchburg's 1-0 win over Down East Thursday night at Lynchburg City Stadium.

Hartson tossed seven scoreless innings and held the Wood Ducks to three hits and three walks while striking out four. It matched the longest outing of his career.

Bautista broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer to left in his first game since July 7. Connor Marabell went 2-for-3 at the plate, Gavin Collins had the only other Hillcats hit, a double in the fourth inning.

Lynchburg plays Down East again Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
