Hillcats blank Dash 5-0 behind Thomas Pannone

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Hillcats pitcher Thomas Pannone threw another masterpiece Monday night against Winston-Salem as Lynchburg shut out the Dash 5-0.

The southpaw, who just celebrated his 23rd birthday Friday, had not allowed an earned run in his first four starts this season. His ERA, 0.00.

It's still zero as Pannone stole the show AGAIN, throwing seven complete innings, allowing no runs, just three hits and striking out eight, making a sweet defensive play as well.

Leading 1-0 in the sixth, Lynchburg's Sam Haggerty led off the inning with a double to right. Two batters later, Ka'ai Tom hammers one to the gap in left-center for an rbi triple.

Lynchburg added two in the seventh, one in the eighth for the 5-0 final.

Game Two of the series is Tuesday night, 6:30, at Lynchburg City Stadium.

Also, Salem scored one in the 9th to tie, one in the 10th to win at Wilmington 4-3.
