Hillcats beat Salem 4-0 in regular season finale heading into playoffs

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The Hillcats snapped a six-game losing streak against Salem Monday, blanking the Red Sox 4-0 in the regular season finale for both teams.

Starting pitcher Thomas Pannone was the story for the Hillcats, Pannone striking out eight and allowing just three hits over a career-high seven shutout innings, the Hillcats locking down their 14th shutout of the season.

Yonathan Mendoza singles here in the sixth for one of his two hits. Francisco Mejia, Connor Marabell and Willi Castro also had two hits, Lynchburg scored all four of its runs in the first inning including a Taylor Murphy two-run double.

The Hillcats and Red Sox both start the playoffs Wednesday on the road.
