Hillcats beat Mudcats 7-5
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - After being shut out their last two games, the Hillcats broke through for seven runs last night in a 7-5 win over the Carolina Mudcats.
Lynchburg was down 4-0 in the third before Mitch Longo scored on a wild pitch to get the Hillcats on the board.
The next batter, Trenton Brooks, doubled to center to drive in two more as Lynchburg sliced the lead to 4-3.
Stayed that way 'til the 5th when Jodd Carter doubled to left plating Longo to tie the game at 4.
Brooks then hit a chopper to first, fielded by Ronnie Gideon but the throw is high, big collision the ball's free allowing two runs to score.
Longo had three hits and scored two runs to lead the Hillcats at the plate. Brooks drove in three runs.
Lynchburg went on for the 7-5 win . They'll play the series finale Thursday night in Lynchburg, first pitch at 6:30.
