VT's Ty Outlaw tears ACL, likely out for coming season

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WSET) - Tough news for Virginia Tech basketball.

Redshirt senior Ty Outlaw tore the ACL in his right knee in a pickup game earlier this month and had surgery two weeks ago.

Outlaw will likely miss the entire upcoming season, ACL injuries usually take a year's recovery time.

The Daily Press in Newport News first reported the story. Outlaw is coming off a breakout season hitting 49 percent of his 3-point shots, including a school-record eight in a win over Miami.

He would have to petition the NCAA to play a sixth year in 2018-19.
