Virginia opens ACC Tournament play with 75-58 win over Louisville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WSET) - -- Kyle Guy showed little effects of a sprained left knee and ACC regular season champion Virginia rolled to a 75-58 win over 9 seed Louisville in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals Friday afternoon.
Guy scored a game-high 19 points and the Cavaliers (29-2) held off a second-half charge by the Cardinals before breaking the game wide open the final minutes.
Devon Hall added 14 points, five Cavaliers scored in double figures as UVa dismantled a Louisville team hungry for a big upset to bolster its NCAA Tournament resume. Instead, the Cardinals at 20-and-13 will sweat out Selection Sunday hoping for an at-large bid.
Ray Spalding led Louisville with 16 points, Deng Adel added 13.
Virginia will face fourth-seeded Clemson in Friday night's 7 o'clock semifinal. The Tigers defeated 12 seed Boston College 90-82 in Friday's second quarterfinal.
