UVa sophomore pitcher Lynch records first complete game win

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WSET) - College baseball, UVa has won 10 of its last 11 heading into a home weekend series against Notre Dame starting Friday night at 6. The Cavaliers are 31-and-9 after Wednesday night's 7-2 win over JMU.

Sophomore left-hander Daniel Lynch was one of the stars against the Dukes.

He threw a complete game six-hitter, striking out a season-high seven. It's Lynch's first career complete game for the Cavs.

Brian O'Connor, 14TH-YEAR VIRGINIA HEAD COACH, said "Daniel Lynch was certainly terrific tonight. You know to go out in college baseball any more and throw a complete game is really special."

Daniel Lynch, FIRST CAREER COMPLETE GAME WEDNESDAY NIGHT, said "It's not something that's common, but it's really cool to be able to stand out there at the end of the game. I was walking around, I had my glove in my hand after the game and it felt weird, walking around on the field with a glove, like standing in a huddle with my glove in my hand. So it was pretty cool."
