Stephen Racanelli caps LU track career with a bang
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - For the third straight year, the LU men and women swept team titles at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Senior Stephen Racanelli, a former Brookville Bees standout, helped lead the men to victory, winning the 200 and 400 dashes and running the anchor leg on the winning 4-by-400 relay team. In his final collegiate event, Racanelli was named Big South Outstanding Track Performer.
Stephen Racanelli, BIG SOUTH OUTSTANDING TRACK PERFORMER, said "Not only to myself but I had other people telling me that too, this is it, go out with a bang. You know unless you qualify for regionals, which unfortunately I didn't, you know this is it so I really took advantage of that. You know Coach told us to have fun and that's what I did the last meet and so I think the emotions were fun. I wasn't upset, I wasn't upset that I was done, I was more excited that it ended on such a good note."
