Notre Dame rallies from 21 down to stun Virginia Tech 71-65 in ACC Tournament
BROOKLYN, NY (WSET) - Tenth-seeded Notre Dame stormed back from 21 down with 15 minutes left to stun Virginia Tech 71-65 in second-round action of the ACC Tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Bonzie Colson banked in a go-ahead, 3-point heave that barely beat the shot clock with less than two minutes remaining to put the Irish up one. It was a lead Notre Dame would not relinquish.
Matt Farrell scored 22 points for the Irish (20-13), who overcame a rough start to extend their late push to reach the NCAA Tournament.
Colson, back recently from a broken foot, finished with 12 points. Rex Pflueger had 14 points and nine rebounds, and T.J. Gibbs added 13 points and seven assists.
Justin Robinson and Justin Bibbs each scored 15 for the Hokies, Chris Clarke added 12.
Virginia Tech drops to 21-and-11 and is knocked out of the tournament. The Hokies now await Sunday's Selection Show to see who and where they'll play in the NCAA Tournament.
