LU's Scottie James, Keyen Green capture Big South Player of the Week honors
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Two Liberty basketball players have swept Big South Conference "Player of the Week" honors.
Redshirt sophomore Scottie James claimed men's honors, after averaging 24.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over the past week. In the process, the Flames captured two Big South wins. James posted back-to-back career scoring bests last week, first with 21 points, eight boards and three rejections in Thursday’s home win over previous co-first-place Winthrop. James followed with 28 points and 11 caroms in Saturday’s victory at Longwood. For the week, he was 18-of-29 from the field ( 62.1 percent), made 2-of-5 three-pointers (40.0) and went 11-of-12 from the free throw line (91.7).
On the women's side, sophomore Keyen Green is taking home the honors. Green averaged 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a pair of Big South victories last week. In a matchup of first-place teams at High Point, Green led the Lady Flames with 19 points on 9-for-13 (69.2 percent) from the field and 14 rebounds for her third double-double of the year. She also added a block and a steal, as LU knocked off the Panthers 65-42 on Tuesday. On Saturday against Presbyterian College, she dropped in 16 points on 7-for-11 (63.6 percent) shooting and added five rebounds in the 63-55 triumph.
