LU women rout Longwood 73-36 for 20th win of the season

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Big South leader Liberty raced to a 30-6 first quarter lead over Longwood en route to a 73-36 win Tuesday night in Lynchburg.

With the win, Liberty improves to 20-and-9 overall, 15-and-2 in Big South play. The Lady Flames have now recorded 19 20-win seasons in the last 22 years.

The win also wrapped up at least a share of Liberty's 16th Big South regular season title and first since the 2014-15 season.

Liberty improved to 11-0 at home with its 19th straight win over Longwood. Five Lady Flames scored in double figures in the same game for the first time this season. KK Barbour and Lela Sellers led Liberty with 12 each, Ola Makurat added 11, Ashtyn Baker and Keyen Green chipped in 10 apiece.

Liberty also finished with twice as many assists, 20, as turnovers, 10.

Longwood drops to 6-22 overall and 4-13 in conference play. The Lancers were led by Mallory Odell and Stephanie Guihon with 8 points apiece.

Liberty closes out the regular season Saturday at 2 at home, taking on High Point.
