LU men roll over Winthrop 77-61 in Big South hoops

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The Liberty Flames won at home Thursday night for the first time in nearly a month, beating Winthrop 77-61 to complete a regular-season sweep of the Eagles.

The Flames led from start to finish against the Eagles, Liberty up 11 at the half.

Scottie James was a force inside for LU, tying his career-high with 21 points and adding eight rebounds.

Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz had another solid night as well, 14 points and five assists. Down 18 early second half, Xavier Cooks helped the Eagles rally, he had 21.

But Liberty would not be denied, Caleb Homesley scored 16.

Liberty improves to 14-and-10 overall, 5-and-6 in the Big South.
