LU beats Campbell 10-5 to force second Big South Baseball semifinal

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Liberty baseball had to beat top-seed Campbell in Friday's first semifinal to stay alive. And the Flames did just that, winning their third-straight elimination game.

After seeing a 4-0 lead sliced to 4-3, LU scored in the fourth, D.J. Artis lining one of his two hits. A wild pitch allowed Ben Highfill to race home and make it 5-3 Flames.

Clinging to a 5-4 lead, Liberty broke loose in the seventh for five big runs.

Highfill's chopper just inside the line at first drives in two runs, Highfill 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Jonathan Embry drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in another.

Flames beat the Camels 10-5, Liberty went on to drop game two to Campbell 6-4.

So it's the top-seeded Camels facing number 2 High Point in Saturday morning's championship game that's been moved up to 11 a.m.
