Liberty Football opens new indoor practice facility
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The Liberty Flames have a new 2nd home on the mountain.
LU Football's new indoor practice facility opened its doors to players this week, as workouts began, in preparation for Liberty's upcoming FCS Independent season.
The $29 million project includes a climate-controlled turf field, end zones, uprights, and a 70-foot ceiling clearance. Coaches say it'll give the Flames an edge in preparing for next level competition. LU Assistant Strength coach BJ Hayes says "It gives us a lot of options, when it rains or it's too hot, we can bring the guys in here and cool them off. Or if it's raining, we can bring them in and still run practice. We can still continue to do our workout. And that's all that I care about, that we come in and get these workouts done."
