Liberty Baseball doubles up Wake Forest 8-4
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The Liberty Flames defeated Wake Forest 8-4 on Alzheimer's Awareness Night at Liberty Baseball Stadium Wednesday night.
The wind was WHIPPIN' at the ballpark, making it feel a lot colder than it really was.
Tied at 2, two outs in the bottom of the fifth, LU's Tyler Galazin rips a single up the middle, driving in runners at second and third. The Deacons' catcher then tried to throw out Galazin, the ball went all the way into the right field corner allowing Galazin to come all the way around to score, 5-2 Flames.
Wake Forest got one back in the sixth on a Shane Muntz rbi double over second into right center field.
But Liberty answered with three big runs in the bottom of the frame on a passed ball, wild pitch and Logan Mathieu's RBI single.
With the win, Liberty improves to 16-and-11 on the season. The Flames now travel to Campbell for a 3-game weekend series beginning Friday night at 6.
