Averett women score late to edge Randolph in women's soccer
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Averett's Amanda Gustavsson scored with less than two minutes left to snap a 1-all tie and lift the Cougars past Randolph 2-1 in women's soccer Wednesday night at Randolph.
Gustavsson scored Averett's first goal in the 27th minute to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead at intermission.
Randolph's Hunter Robinson tied the game in the 69th minute off an assist from Patricia Garrett of Appomattox.
Still tied at 1, less than two minutes left, T'era Brown sent a ball into Gustavsson who collected it off her back leg, then fired left corner for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Averett improves to 2-1-and-1 with the win, Randolph drops to 1-2-and-1 overall.
