#13 Virginia beats JMU 7-2 in college baseball
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WSET) - Virginia got a complete-game six-hitter from lefthander Daniel Lynch as the Cavaliers beat in-state rival JMU 7-2 Wednesday night at Davenport Field.
Virginia improves to 31-and-9 on the season and has won 10 of its last 11 games as it heads into a weekend series against Notre Dame.
Lynch (6-2) earned his first career complete game and the first in a midweek game for a Virginia pitcher since Will Roberts pitched a perfect game against George Washington in 2011. Lynch allowed two earned runs, six hits and three walks while striking out seven. He retired the side in order in three of the last four innings.
JMU falls to 18-and-18 with the loss, the Dukes used five pitchers on the night.
