Salem Sox stun Wilmington, Post 16 remains undefeated, and other scores
SALEM, Va. (WSET) - The Salem Red Sox roared back late to blindside the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 11-7, at Haley Toyota Field on Thursday.
Down 7-2 in the 8th inning, the Sox bats came alive, with a 9-run 8th inning to shock the Rocks. The 9 runs in one inning is a Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark record, and helps the Red Sox snap a 5 game losing streak.
ELIZABETHTON, Tn. (WSET) - The Appalachian League opener between the Danville Braves and Elizabethton Twins was rained out on Thursday. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday.
PULASKI, Va. (WSET) - Pulaski's Eric Wagaman made the most of his minor league debut at Calfee Park on Thursday.
The 19-year old first baseman went 2-4 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI's, as the P-Yanks defeated the Princeton Rays, 7-2.
Matthew Wivinis (W, 1-0) struck out 6 of the 7 batters he faced late in the game to take the win. Starter Rony Garcia also struck out 6 in 5 2/3rds.
