Rustburg Baseball, JF Softball win, plus Wednesday's scores

CAMPBELL CO, Va. (WSET) - The Brookville Bees secured a perfect regular season record of 20-0, defeating Jefferson Forest 2-0 on Wednesday.

Bees senior pitcher Jordan Dail dominated, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 14 batters. Offensively, Brookville scored on a wild throw in the second inning, then UNC-Bound catcher Megan Dray blasted a solo home run to right center field for an insurance run.

  • Jordan Dail, 3-HIT SHUTOUT, 14 K - "There was definitely a little bit more pressure tonight but I think we're a team that handles pressure very well especially in the last three years. So I think we handled it very well tonight."
  • Megan Dray, BEES SENIOR CATCHER (SOLO HR IN 6TH)- "This perfect season, perfect regular season, is just icing on the cake for a great four years that we've had. And we're ready for postseason."

At E.C. Glass, both the Hilltoppers and Rustburg Red Devils were free swinging on the baseball diamond, but the Devils pulled away late for a 14-8 win over the Toppers.

Rustburg jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, scoring on an infield fielders choice from Warren Lamberth, and a Nathan Gunter RBI hit. The Hilltoppers would tie the game, then take the lead in the 2nd. Austin Cooper tied it on a 2 RBI double at 3. However, Lamberth later blasted a 2 run home run to get Rustburg in the game, and the Devils cruised late in the game to steal the road win.
