Parry McCluer softball rallies to defeat Nelson, and Thursday's scores

NELSON CO., Va. (WSET) - The defending 1A State softball champs from Parry McCluer survived a slugfest at Nelson County, scoring the last 9 runs of the game to defeat the Governors, 14-6.

Nelson's Kalley Seitz hit a 3 run home run in the left to give the Lady Governors a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. But the Fighting Blues rallied back for a 5-spot in the 6th inning, and added 4 more in the 7th for the win.

  • Dan River 7, William Campbell 0 -- Dan River's Brandon Jones pitched a 4-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts, while Bennett McCann went 3-4, and Jacob Stewart added 3 RBI's in the Wildcats win at Campbell.
  • Staunton River 5, James River 2 -- Hours after signing their college commitments, Koby Karnes and Nathan Cutler each go 3-4 at the plate to lead the Golden Eagles to victory. Cutler also got the save on the mound for Staunton River.

Boys Lacrosse:

  • V.E.S. 9, Christchurch 0 -- James Hill, Justin Featherston, and Thomas Battle all with two goals each in the shutout win.
