Parry McCluer girls, Radford boys win state titles
RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) - The Fighting Blues girls of Parry McCluer won their first basketball state championship Thursday afternoon, holding off George Wythe of Wytheville 34-29.
The Blues took a four-point lead into the final quarter, only for the Maroons to tie the game with 40 seconds left.
But Parry McCluer wins the game thanks to great free throw shooting.
The Fighting Blues connected on 15-of-16 tries for the game and Parry McCluer wins its first state title.
The Radford boys won their second-straight Group 1A state championship.
Quinton Morton Robertson had a huge day for the Bobcats, pouring in 29 points.
Radford wins a thriller over George Wythe of Wytheville 61-60.
