Martinsville girls fall to Central-Wise in 2A state title game

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) - Brittany Turner scored a game-high 18 points for Martinsville, but the Bulldogs fell to Central-Wise 45-29 in the 2A state championship game at VCU's Siegel Center.

Central-Wise led by seven at the half and broke the game wide open in the third quarter, outscoring Martinsville 11-2 to take control.

Martinsville had beaten Central two weeks ago in the region semifinals, but the Warriors had the upper hand Thursday night.

The Lady Bulldogs were making their first appearance in the state title game in 26 years.
