L.C.A. Baseball, JF Girls Soccer, Brookville Softball among state semifinal winners
SALEM, RADFORD VA. (WSET) - Plenty of area teams will have a shot to bring home state championships Saturday after posting semifinal wins on Friday.
L.C.A. Baseball defeated Great Bridge 7-4 and will face Hanover Saturday at 1 for the championship in a rematch of last year's final won by Hanover.
Jefferson Forest girls soccer scored with three minutes left to tie King's Fork out of Suffolk, then after no scores in overtime periods, JF beat the Bulldogs in penalty kicks 4-2 to post the win. The Cavaliers will face Salem in Saturday's 12:20 final.
Brookville softball blanked York 5-0, Jordan Dail struck out 15 and went 4-for-4 at the plate, including a 3-run homer. The Bees will face Warhill in Saturday's 1 o'clock final, a rematch of last year's final won by Warhill.
Dan River and Halifax Baseball also won semifinal games. Dan River defeated Madison County 3-1 while Halifax County shut out Prince George 2-0. Dan River faces John Battle in Saturday's 1 o'clock final at Radford while Halifax takes on Briar Woods Saturday morning at 10 at James Robinson Secondary school.
Other action saw Maggie Walker beat Appomattox County 5-0 in boys soccer, Riverside defeated Brookville in 3A Baseball 17-6.
The Radford boys soccer team also won Friday 2-0 and will face Galax in Saturday morning's 10 o'clock final at Radford University's Cupp Stadium.
The E.C. Glass team of Trent Daly and Moses Hutchison won the 4A Doubles state championship while Reagan Delp and Caitlin Carter of Cave Spring High School won the 3A Girls Doubles State Championship.
