SALEM, Va. (WSET) - The L.C.A. Bulldogs claimed their first VHSL Baseball title, and their 3rd baseball state title of any variety in the last 4 years, defeating Hanover 8-5.

The Bulldogs (23-2) built up an 8-run lead through the first two innings, allowing senior Austin Roach to pitch comfortably through the rest of the title game, striking out 4 over the complete game.

L.C.A.'s Wesley Clark and Kyle Horton each went 2-3, with both knocking in 2 runs on a single to highlight a 6-run 2nd inning for the Bulldogs.

The title is L.C.A.'s first as a member of the VHSL. The Bulldogs fell in last year's 4A title game to the same Hanover Hawks, 13-12, at Liberty Baseball Stadium. The previous two seasons, the Bulldogs won the VISAA state championship.
