Heritage softball holds off Appomattox, and Monday's scores
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The opening round of the Heritage High School softball invitational provided plenty of nail-biting excitement on Monday.
In the nightcap, the Pioneers built up an 8-0 lead over Appomattox, then held on during a furious Raiders rally, to win 8-6. Heritage's Katelyn St. John hit a home run in the win for Heritage.
Earlier, the Bassett Bengals rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the final inning to defeat Rockbridge County, 3-2. The Bengals' Kassie Rogers hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the 7th to give Bassett the win. Bassett will face Heritage in the finals Tuesday, while Appomattox will play Rockbridge in the consolation.
