Heritage prepares for state semifinal showdown against Staunton River

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The Heritage Pioneers are unbeaten Staunton River's opponent Saturday in the state football semifinals at Staunton River.

The Pioneers are 12-and-1 and steam-rolling opponents in the playoffs, Heritage is AVERAGING 62 points a game in the postseason and allowing less than 14.

Senior running back Elijah Davis has been running through defenses all season.

Now the two powerhouse teams collide Saturday at Staunton River.

Brad Bradley, HERITAGE HEAD COACH, said "We expected this matchup, we knew that the road to the state championship was going to run through Moneta and, you know, here we are. And they've had a tremendous year, we've had a tremendous year, and now it's just 48 minutes to decide it."

Elijah Davis, NEW VHSL RECORD 55 TD THIS SEASON, said "It feels great just knowing how much we've put in, just to see the outcome of it. I mean it feels great because we've been putting in a lot, they've been the "o" line has been working their butts off, the receivers got better in blocking, so I think it feels great."
