LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - The E.C. Glass boys lacrosse team "revenge tour" added one more stop in the 2016-2017 season.

The state championships.

For the first time in school history, the Hilltoppers advanced to the 4A state finals, with a dominant 21-11 win over the defending champions from Dominion.

The Hilltoppers (18-2) and Titans went toe-to-toe for most of the first half, with Glass clinging to a 7-6 lead as time wound down before halftime. Team captain Josiah Martin buried a goal with 1.6 seconds left to give coach Eddie Ranuska's 'Toppers a 2-goal lead, at 8-6, entering the break.

Spurred on by Martin's last second score, Glass started the 3rd quarter on a quick 3-0 run to extend the lead. Martin finished the day with a 'sock trick' (6 goals), while adding 5 assists on his dominating performance. Will Carrington added 4 goals, while Andrew Kayes recorded 3.

Leading 14-10 entering the final quarter, the Hilltoppers crushed any Dominion hopes of a comeback at the faceoff circle. Matt Gallagher won 23 of the 29 faceoffs he was involved in on the evening, preventing the Titans from any quality scoring opportunities. Glass scored 7 straight to balloon their lead up, only allowing a goal in the last minute of play to reach the final score.

With the win, E.C. Glass travels to Salem High School on Saturday for the 4A State Championship game at 1:00pm to face undefeated Riverside (19-0), who defeated 4A South-runners up Midlothian 11-10 in overtime.
